Black, white and red

A co-worker asked me to make a cake for her daughters 10th birthday. They wanted it two layers with black, white and red flowers. She wanted buttercream frosting, but didn't want it smooth. She also had a red ribbon she wanted draped on it. Whew! Lots of requests. But I got it done last night. I would have liked it better with fondant, but oh well.

First Post

Okay, so I guess I'll start the first post. :)

I made a cake for a friend of mine the other day. Her little girl turned 5 and really wanted a Tinkerbell cake.

My friend really wanted "rainbow chip" cake, and I learned that it is a very crumbly cake, and very difficult to frost. lol... I filled the bottom layer with a delicious strawberry filling, and the top layer was just filled with buttercream, since she wanted some plain cake for the kids.

The entire cake was frosted with buttercream icing, and then decorated with many royal icing flowers and little toadstools made from Hershey's hugs and kisses with chocolate twizzler pieces for stems.

I had alot of fun making this one. I really got to play around with my imagination. :)
